4 Star Classics

A chrome bumper 6-Series that is an excellent drive. Fitted with rare optional Recaro seats. 

MODEL HISTORY

The E24 6 series was produced from 1976-1989 and was the replacement for the CS and CSL E9 coupes. Like the E9 coupes the early bodies of the 6 were manufactured by Karmann until production was moved in house by BMW. It was the proven E12 5 series that provided the chassis and much of the mechanicals for the E24. Dubbed the 'Bavarian Ferrari' the 6 series was a high end two door luxury sports coupe.

The original 630CS was carbureted and had a 4 speed gearbox. 1979 saw the end of the non-injection fuel systems and the introduction of computer fuel injection. The 635CSI was not produced till 1978, a couple of years after the introduction of the E24 chassis, the 3.5 engine was then improved on again in 1982 when the model received an improved interior and slight exterior modifications.

EXTERIOR

The Alpine white paintwork looks great with the sparkling chrome and black leather. It is always a challenge to photograph a white car in a white studio and give a good indication of the exterior from the pictures but we're please to say it looks even better in the flesh. The paintwork is in excellent condition as is the chrome work.

INTERIOR

This 6 is fitted with the very rare and desirable Recaro sports seats that are trimmed in soft black leather, the leather is in perfect condition with no wear or sagging to the bolsters. The rest of the interior is also in excellent condition with no wear to the carpets or damage to any of the plastic trim. All the controls work as they should and the original tape player is still fitted. There is a set of brand new mats for the car.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

This 635CSi covered most of its mileage in its early life, you can see from the history file that over the last 20 years it has consistently covered between 1 - 3k per year. Its always been regularly serviced and kept in constant use which is the best combination for keeping the mechanicals in top condition. This is reflected in the way this car drives, we've driven some excellent E24s over the last year and this is one of the best!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

This car is fitted with the factory 'bottle top' alloy wheels all of which are in excellent condition. An expensive job on these E24's can be replacing the TRX tyres but the good news is these have recently been replaced. The brakes are in excellent working condition pulling the car up in a nice straight line.

HISTORY FILE

This 635CSi was first registered and purchased in August 1986, it was then sold to a Mr Cormack in June 1987 for £27,500 (bill of sale in the history file stating that he p/x'd his BMW 728 and Mercedes SEC) who kept the car for 3 years. The next owner Mr Weetman kept the car for 10 years before passing it to a Mr Wood who kept the car for a further 3 years. The current owner then purchased the car in 2004 and has kept it ever since.

There is a fantastically well documented service history file that is presented in date order in a ring binder detailing all the work that has been carried out. Its all BMW until the current owner bought the car in 2004, he has had the car serviced every year by the same specialist garage.

Its easy to verify the mileage as there are over 30 service receipts and MOT's in the file stating mileage and dates.
