A show worthy 528i expertly prepared by a well known BMW Detailer

EXTERIOR

This lucky E28 was purchased by the well known Dr Oloyede who has a passion for vehicle detailing to the highest level, you can see examples of his work on www.bmwclassics.co.uk.

The car was already in fine order when he purchased it in 2006 with original paint (other than the bonnet) and perfect panel gaps but he set about making the necessary improvements to get the car up to his standards. The car was almost rust free other than a tiny amount of surface corrosion on the wheel arch lips and around the rear licence plate lights, these areas were caught early and rubbed back to bare metal, anti-rust treated, primed and repainted. These repairs where done over 4 years ago and there is no evidence of any corrosion coming back.

He had all of the wheel arches thoroughly cleaned, degreased and then repainted in Alpine White. They were then along with the entire under body, box sections, brake lines etc given a coat of clear waxoyl to protect the car. As a fine testament to the quality of his work it still looks brand new under the arches!

All the chrome is in fantastic condition. The only improvement made by Dr Oloyede was to replace the chrome strips that run around the front and rear screens as these always go a little milky with age and fit a new rear light as there was a small amount of pitting in the chrome.

Many people enjoy polishing cars at the weekend but the quality of the work carried out by Dr Oloyede has created a beautiful car that is now ready to last for the next 20 years.

INTERIOR

The interior in this 528i appears in close to new condition and shows no evidence of its 25 years of use. There is no damage or scratches to any of the trim or dash. The Pacific Blue seats show no signs of wear and the carpets have been preserved in pristine condition by a set of BMW mats. All the switch gear works as it should and it still has the original Blaupunkt Radio-Cassette, speakers and tape holder. The boot looks like it has never had anything in it and has remained bone dry with a pristine set of BMW tools. The BMW torch is still present in the glove box and in working order.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

Being the 528i it's fitted with the legendary straight six M30 engine that generates 184bhp (only 6bhp less than the latest 2.8 BMW engines). With the correct maintenance these engines are capable of huge mileage. The engine runs smoothly and quietly and pulls very well. Dr Oloyede had the camshaft inspected and it showed absolutely no signs of wear, testament again to the excellent care that has been lavished on this E28.

The gearbox was replaced in 2007 with a reconditioned unit from a low mileage car, it was fully serviced and goes through the gears smoothly and quietly.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

The car has its original bottle top alloys which were professionally refurbished in 2007 and still remain in perfect condition. They are shod in matching tyres that all have plenty of tread left.

At the same time as having its last inspection 2 service at BMW it also had brand new front discs and calipers fitted. The back discs only show minimal wear.

HISTORY FILE

This 528i was supplied by BMW Main Dealer Milcars in October 1986 and continued to be serviced at BMW for the first 10 years bringing the mileage up to 77k. The servicing was then taken on by a specialist who looked after the car for the next 8 years until it had covered 97k. In 2005 the car then went back to BMW for further servicing.

Dr Oloyede has kept a fantastic record of all the work he carried out to the car with hundreds of photographs showing every stage all of which has been kept in the history file. He also had the car featured in Total BMW Magazine and a copy has been kept along with a disk of all the photographs.

We take a great deal of pride in the presentation and detailing of our cars at 4 Star but have to take our hats off to Dr Oloyede as this E28 is simply stunning!
