Full BMW service history and low mileage. A time warp example of the E30 Cab.

MODEL HISTORY

Brought to the market as an entry level luxury car the E30 chassis spanned 12 years of production. Replacing the E21 chassis in 1982 and overlapping its successor the E36 introduced in 1990 by 4 years.

Early models featured the 4 pot M10 and inline 6 M20 engines used in the E21. The major update for the E30 took place in 1987 where the M20 engine was fitted with Bosch Motronic injection and the M10 engine replaced with the M40 engine again utilising motronic. The chrome bumpers were also replaced with black or coloured ones in late 89 and the rear light made slightly bigger during this minor face lift. E30s are now referred to as pre-facelift (chrome bumpers) and facelift (plastic bumpers).  The E30 boasted a spacious cabin and a light curb weight, this was due to the suspension design that utilize Macpherson front struts and rear semi trailing arms. It was also the first 3 series to receive a service light indicator and warning light.

The 325i convertible was the first drop top solely built by BMW, the early E30 being converted by Baur, a coach builder located in Stuttgart credited with early full factory authorization BMW convertibles (1602, 2002 and E21s). To strengthen the chassis and reduce scuttle shake BMW added plates to the front suspension turrets and built in chassis beams down the length of the car helping to reduce flex or twist in the chassis after removing the metal roof. 

A firm favourite with BMW enthusiasts the E30s shape is a timeless classic sure to be admired for another 20 years

EXTERIOR

This E30 convertible is finished in Brilliant red and other than a few light stone chips to the front its flawless. It has always been kept garaged so the there is no fading to any of the paint or trim. The hood is in excellent condition and is very easy to operate. 

INTERIOR

This is one of the best E30 interiors we have ever seen, it literally shows no wear! Due to being garaged all its life nothing has faded or been damaged by the sun. All the tools are present and the boot looks like it has never had anything in it. 

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

As you would expect with a car with such low mileage and a full BMW service history the mechanicals are exactly as they should be. The car starts on the first turn of the key and idles smoothly. The engine pulls the car well and provides an excellent balance of performance and economy. The gear box feels tight and precise and goes easily through the gears. 

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

This car has the factory 14" Bottle Top alloy wheels that are all in perfect condition and shod in matching Michelin tyres all of which have plenty of tread left. The brakes work well and pull the car up in a straight line. 

HISTORY FILE

This E30 Convertible was first registered in August 1991 and had its running in service the following month. It has been owned by the current owner since May 1992.

The car has a full BMW service history and since being in the hands of the current owner has always been serviced by BMW Sytner of Leicester, all the services are stamped in the original BMW service book. To further verify the low mileage every MOT certificate has also been kept.

The car also comes with its original document holder containing the owners manual and guide books.
