Model History

The Audi RS4 quattro is the highest performing version of the A4 range. It is a sports-focused executive car produced by Audi's high-performance private subsidiary Quattro GmbH. The RS4 made a comeback in 2012 in Avant form only, with this variant known as the B8.

The original B5 version was produced only as a five-door five-seat ‘Avant', Audi's name for an estate. The second version, the B7, was released initially as a four-door five-seat saloon with the Avant following a short while later. A two-door four-seat Cabriolet version was subsequently added. Furthermore, the cars’ unique internal combustion engines are all front-mounted, and are longitudinally oriented. The transmission is mounted immediately at the rear of the engine in a longitudinal orientation, in the form of a transaxle, and contains both a center and front differential.

The ‘RS' initials are taken from the German, RennSport – literally translated as ‘Racing Sport'. Like all Audi RS cars, the RS4 pioneers some of Audi's latest advanced technology and is only available with Audi's quattro permanent four-wheel drive system.

Misano Red pearl effect paintwork, Black leather and Alcantara upholstery, Sports Package: 20-inch ‘Rotor’ alloy wheels, Sports suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC), Dynamic steering, Sports exhaust; Bang & Olufsen sound system, Advanced key, 7-speed S Tronic gearbox, Front and rear parking sensors, Electrically-adjustable sports seats, 3-spoke flat-bottomed RS steering wheel, RS instrument panel, Cruise control, 3-zone climate control, Interior light package, MMI Navigation system plus, Audi Music Interface, Bluetooth interface, DAB digital radio, Audi drive select, quattro permanent all-wheel-drive with Sports differential, Tyre pressure warning light, Split-folding rear seats, Roof spoiler, RS body-styling, Xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED rear lights, Adaptive headlights with turning light, Light and rain sensors, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Front and rear ISOFIX child seat preparation, Power-operated tailgate, Retractable load cover, Velour floor mats, Spare key.

The RS4’s muscular physique looks magnificent in vibrant Misano Red, which is complemented beautifully by the tinted glass and plentiful matte silver detailing. The lustrous pearl effect paint presents to an excellent standard all round, retaining a deep glossy shine with only one or two light blemishes to report on very close inspection. There are no unsightly car park dings along either side, and all silver trims remain untarnished.

The electrically adjustable sports seats are trimmed in soft black leather and alcantara. The upholstery presents really well throughout, showing only light wear to the driver’s bolster, all perfectly in line with the low mileage of 55k. The dark interior is lifted with pale headlining and glossy carbon fibre trim adorning the dash fascia, door cards, and centre console; the adjacent switchgear is also pleasingly unmarked and of course everything works just as it should. Factory options include the desirable Bang & Olufsen sound system – which features 14 high-performance speakers and two amplifiers to create 505 Watts of stunning surround sound – and Advanced Key, which adds the huge convenience of keyless entry and start.

Powering the RS4 is Audi’s 4.2-litre FSI V8. That means 444 naturally aspirated horsepower reaching its peak at a screaming 8,250 rpm. This gives the car enough grunt to break the 0-60 mph barrier in 4.7 seconds, and on to 174mph (when de-limited). Power is transferred to Audi’s legendary quattro AWD system via the silky-smooth 7-speed S Tronic transmission. Thanks to the self-locking centre differential as much as 85 percent of the power can be sent to the rear wheels, giving the B8 RS4 a more nuanced RWD feel for the ultimate in performance.

This particular example was specified with the sought-after Sports Package, equipping the car with Sports suspension plus including Dynamic Ride Control (DRC), Dynamic steering, and of course the desirable Sports exhaust.

The vast 20-inch Rotor alloys certainly look the part and fill the arches perfectly. They are all in good order with only minor curb marking to three of them; a perfectionist may choose to refurb. The wheels are shod in a brand new set of Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres, fitted at the current mileage. We have also just had the front brake pads and discs replaced with genuine parts.

History File

This stunning B8 RS4 in Misano Red was first registered in October 2014. Notable factory options include the Sports Package (20-inch alloy wheels, Sports suspension with Dynamic Ride Control, Dynamic steering, Sports exhaust), Bang and Olufsen sound system, and Advanced Key. The car has now driven just 55k miles from new and is accompanied by a well-documented History File.

We have just had the car serviced and fully inspected for the new keeper’s peace of mind. Brand new Dunlop tyres have just been fitted all round, with new discs and pads fitted at the front. Freshly MOT’d, she’s good to go.
