Model History

The Bentley Azure was a four-seater convertible grand tourer. The first version debuted in 1995 on the Bentley Continental R platform and was made until 2003. After a three-year break, a completely new version – as featured here – debuted in 2006 and was produced until 2009. It was powered by a significantly updated engine and based on the newer Arnage platform.

Exterior

This beautiful second generation Azure is finished in majestic Dark Sapphire with contrasting Magnolia hide. The lustrous paintwork is exceptionally well presented following a machine polish by our in-house detailer, our studio photos really don’t do it justice. The rich, dark hue is offset perfectly by the attractive 19-inch wheels and elegant brightwork touches, again all in superb condition. In line with the mileage there are very few defects to note, the worst being a dusting of light frontal stone chips and one minor mark on the nearside rear bumper just behind the wheel. Having always been garaged there is no sun damage to any of the trims or rubber seals, and the complementing dark blue soft-top is immaculate.

Interior

Lavishly appointed in sumptuous Magnolia hide the cabin is a wonderful place to be. The pale upholstery is remarkably well preserved throughout; the rear seats appear to have been rarely sat in and other commonly worn areas such as the driver’s bolsters show only the lightest of wear. Glossy burr oak trim adorns the dash fascia, centre console, and doors – all entirely unmarked. The neighbouring switchgear and dials are in equally fine fettle, and there are no marks to any of the supple extended leather covering the dash or door cards. The deep pile carpets feel especially luxurious underfoot and everything works as it should.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

Barely run-in with only 21,226 miles under its belt the Bentley is a dream to drive. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre V8 producing 450hp, 0-60mph is achieved in under 6 seconds which, considering the Azure weighs in at a colossal 2.6 tons, is really quite impressive. Reading through the accompanying History File it’s clear the car has always been maintained to a very high standard. Despite its low mileage there are 13 stamps across two service books, the first 10 from Bentley main agents and the remaining 3 from marque specialists. The last service was carried out in October 2022 at 20,735 miles. 

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

Filling the arches are factory-optional 19-inch six twin-spoke alloy wheels, all in perfect unmarked condition, including the centre caps. They are shod in a matching set of Pirelli PZero tyres with ample tread left at each corner. The brakes have also been inspected recently and remain in fine operational condition, effortlessly bringing the car to a stop quickly and in a straight line. 

History File

Supplied new by Jack Barclay (London) in July 2008, this handsome Dark Sapphire Azure has now driven only 21k miles in the hands of just two registered keepers (the current since 2017). The spare key and original handbooks are all present and correct, including the original service booklets which are stamped 13 times at the following mileages:
