Model History

The fourth generation BMW M3 was announced at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. Similar to previous M3 generations that introduced a new engine, the fourth generation M3 did the same: the BMW S65 V8 engine. The engine produced 414hp at 8,300 rpm, with peak torque of 295 lb-ft at 3,900rpm. A six-speed manual transmission was standard but as of April 2008, BMW offered a new seven-speed Getrag double-clutch gearbox as well. The optional M DCT (Double Clutch Transmission) reduced shift pauses to less than a tenth of a second. It featured both automatic and manual modes similar to the SMG gearboxes in the E36 and E46, but with more speed and efficiency. The E92 M3 coupe also inherited a carbon fibre roof similar to the one used on the E46 CSL.

Exterior

Finished in BMW Individual Azurite Black Metallic, this low mileage M3 convertible presents to a great standard throughout. Free from any major scratches or unsightly car park dings the paintwork retains a deep shine across every panel. In line with the mileage there is a dusting of light stone chips and a few very minor blemishes but little else to detract from the car’s overall impressive exterior. The folding hardtop operates smoothly and the headlights are nice and clear. Being a facelift (LCI) model this one features the revised LED rear lights. All in all, a superb E93 M3 in a very attractive colour combo – especially with the top down.

Interior

The contrasting Bamboo Novillo leather looks magnificent against the dark exterior hue. The upholstery has worn very well throughout the cabin, still feeling soft to the touch with a lovely matte sheen that’s free from major wear. Commonly worn areas such as the driver’s bolster and steering wheel hint at only light use, and the rear seats are immaculate. Factory-specified options inside the car include DAB radio, heated front seats, USB connectivity, a sliding front armrest, and Professional sat nav.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

At the heart of the M3 is BMW’s venerable S65 V8. Producing a mighty 414hp at 8,300 rpm and 295 lb-ft of torque at 3,900rpm, the 4-litre powerplant was also the last naturally aspirated engine ever to be fitted to an M car. This particular E93 has now driven only 40k miles from new with entries in the maintenance booklet at the following mileages – 729 – 16,847 – 25,381 – 29,208 – 36,153 – 39,290 – and most recently at 40,405 miles in January 2023. The mechanics of the car are entirely unmodified, including the exhaust.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

The M3 sits on its original 19-inch forged alloy wheels, all in perfect unmarked condition with no signs of any damage or tarnishing to the polished faces. They are shod in a matching set of Pirelli PZero tyres that have seen little use since fitment. The brakes have also been checked and remain in fine operational condition, most recently benefitting from a brake fluid change at the current mileage.

History File

First registered in June 2013 this attractive Azurite Black M3 has driven only 40k miles in the hands of 5 registered keepers. The accompanying History File is complete with the original M document wallet, owners’ manuals, service booklet, and a spare remote key. Since arriving with us the car has been fully inspected and freshly serviced with a brake fluid change for the new keeper’s peace of mind.
