Model History

The Nissan Skyline, particularly in its GTR trim is, perhaps one of the most iconic Japanese sports cars ever produced. From re-writing the history pages of Japanese motorsport to becoming a virtual icon in Gran Turismo, and a worldwide Hollywood star with the Fast and Furious franchise, the BNR34 GTR is by far and away the most famous Japanese sports car in the world.

The base for this particular vehicle, a BNR34 GTR V-Spec II Nür, is already amongst the holy grail of all BNR34 GTR's as the swansong of the model released in November 2001. The production of the BNR34 GTR Skyline ended in August 2002.

A limited production run of just 718 track-biased V-Spec II Nür and 285 road-biased M-Spec II Nürs were released with Super Taikyu N1-specification engines and 300km/h speedometers, amongst other options. There were only 159 V-Spec II Nürs in QM1 White. The entire quota of 718 cars was sold out in one day in Japan - such was the popularity of the car.

Nissan Motorsport (Nismo) were happy to help customers in Japan create their own ultimate BNR34 GTR, and to this end offered two packages to the well-heeled owner. Following a meticulous inspection by Nismo, the customer's pick-list of confirmed options, and their name on the dotted line, Nismo would build a Nismo R-Tune (a track-biased version) or a Nismo S-Tune (a road-biased version). There were some 25-30 Nismo R-Tune conversions in total performed by Nismo, making them almost as rare as the Z-Tune.

Exterior

This incredibly rare R34 presents in a pristine coat of white. The finish of both the body and underside is impeccable following a complete repaint in the original colour by a renowned McLaren paint specialist. This was part of the car's comprehensive nut-and-bolt refresh, which has been carried out under the current ownership with no expense spared.

Converted at the Omori Factory by Nismo at a cost of approximately £30k back in the day, the R-Tune is equipped with numerous visual upgrades over the standard V-Spec II Nür. Unique features include the R-Tune carbon-fibre bonnet, R-Tune aero bumper, R-Tune side skirts, and an R-Tune rear under-spoiler. This particular example also boasts Z-Tune carbon front wings and rear wheel arch spats for an even more commanding presence.

Finished to the highest possible standard the quality of this GTR really must be seen to be believed. Having covered zero miles since the work was completed, the carbon-fibre laced underside also remains in pristine order. Well over 350 photographs document the extensive refresh, which involved removal of the engine plus a complete strip and rebuild of all underside components, thus ensuring the entire car was returned to as-new condition throughout.
