Model History

The Porsche 968 was introduced to the world back in 1991. A great sports car also ideal for touring, the standard 968 coupe came with a 3-litre, 4-cyclinder engine producing 225lb ft of torque and 240hp. Soon after, Porsche set their sights on creating a car tailored more for the driving enthusiast and, in particular, one that would excel on track. In late 1992, the 968 Club Sport was born. Mechanically identical and sharing the same engine and 6-speed gearbox as the standard coupe, the only difference between the two cars was weight saving and a reduction in ride height, and, at the time of its launch, the Club Sport was considerably cheaper.

Few people realise that the UK Sport is, in fact, a Club Sport underneath. The UK Sport models were produced on the Club Sport production line for GB import, and have a Club Sport chassis number. In total, 306 cars were imported into the UK by Porsche GB during 1994 and 1995: these 306 cars are included within the 1,923 Club Sport worldwide manufacturer's production numbers.

UK specification, 968 CS Luxury Package, Top tinted windscreen, Body-coloured front splitter, Electrically adjustable door mirrors, Cup 2 alloys in black, Sunroof, Electric windows, Divided rear seats, Club Sport rear badge, Club Sport decals, Rear wiper delete, Spare wheel, Toolkit, Spare key, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

The classic Guards Red paint looks superb against the black Cup alloys and Club Sport detailing. The coachwork presents with an excellent finish, appearing fresh and glossy all over with no unsightly blemishes to report. There are no stone chips to the front end and all lenses are free from damage. A body-coloured front splitter completes the look and subtly provides a more assertive stance.

Equipped with the CS Luxury Package, this rare UK Sport features comfort seats and a few other refinements over a standard Club Sport. The interior is in really nice condition throughout and boasts no rips or tears to the seats, front or rear. On closer inspection the dash and switchgear are pleasingly unmarked and the original steering wheel is still in place. The gearshift gaiter has been re-stitched in red, which looks great, and an Alpine CD/USB head unit has also been fitted.

The engine bay is extremely clean with few signs of wear and absolutely no corrosion to any panels. The car has been really well looked after from new, which is evident not only from its cleanliness and fine mechanical fettle, but also from the extensive maintenance record present in the History File. It was most recently serviced in August 2017 at 111k miles.

The original 17-inch Cup 2 wheels are finished in black and really look the part. They are free from any curb marking and are shod in Continental tyres all round. The complementary black calipers are also in good condition, still inscribed with Porsche.

History File

The 968 was delivered new by Evans Halshaw (Midlands) Ltd in March 1994. The History File is complete with the leather Porsche document holder and original handbooks. The service book was replaced early on but is fully stamped with all the correct entries, as detailed below.

Having been very well maintained from new, the paperwork with the car is extensive. The accompanying Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche GB confirms this example to be a CS Coupe equipped with the CS Luxury Package.
