The Porsche 968 was introduced to the world back in 1991. A great sports car also ideal for touring, the standard 968 coupe came with a 3-litre, 4-cyclinder engine producing 225lb ft of torque and 240hp. Soon after, Porsche set their sights on creating a car tailored more for the driving enthusiast and, in particular, one that would excel on track. In late 1992, the 968 Club Sport was born. Mechanically identical and sharing the same engine and 6-speed gearbox as the standard coupe, the only difference between the two cars was weight saving and a reduction in ride height, and, at the time of its launch, the Club Sport was considerably cheaper.
Few people realise that the UK Sport is, in fact, a Club Sport underneath. The UK Sport models were produced on the Club Sport production line for GB import, and have a Club Sport chassis number. In total, 306 cars were imported into the UK by Porsche GB during 1994 and 1995: these 306 cars are included within the 1,923 Club Sport worldwide manufacturer's production numbers.

This superb UK Sport is finished in a glossy coat of black. The paintwork remains to a good standard overall with few blemishes worthy of note, most notably a handful of minor chips to the front end. Free from any unsightly car park dings the 968 remains particularly straight along both sides. Pleasingly all lenses and items of trim remain in fine fettle, with the rubbers maintaining a supple appearance throughout.
The interior remains in exceptional order, presenting in near time-warp condition. With absolutely no wear to the bolsters, both front seats are still perfectly supportive and free from any marking. The dash and door cards are equally pristine and without any scratches. On closer inspection, the chunky three-spoke wheel retains an unworn finish. Smaller details such as the switchgear still look fresh, and the centre console shows almost no signs of any use. The unspoiled carpets are protected in the footwells by a set of Porsche overmats, and in the boot area the original privacy cover can still be found.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The engine bay is in remarkably clean order although given the car’s detailed maintenance record this comes as no surprise. The 968 has been serviced eighteen times to date, mainly by Porsche but also by marque specialists. The most recent service was carried out at 92k miles, at which point the cambelt, water pump and clutch were also replaced.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Sitting on the original set of Cup 2 alloys, the 968 really looks the business. Each of the wheels remain in perfect, unmarked condition and present with the correct centre caps. They are shod in a matching set of Michelin Pilot Sport tyres with plenty of tread remaining.
Supplied new by Lancaster Bow, London, the 968 was first registered in January 1995. Present in the history is the original leather document holder complete with the correct owner’s manuals and dealer-supplied service booklet. The remaining paperwork consists of numerous Porsche and specialist invoices, an inspection report from Peter Morgan, and several previous MOT certificates.
