Exterior
This beautiful Pre-Unit example returned from a full restoration in 2018 but still presents in immaculate condition having been properly stored in the current owner’s dehumidified and temperature-controlled garage ever since. The blue, silver and black paintwork is finished to a very high standard with no scratches or marks to report, and all the rubbers still appear as new. A small amount of patina is visible to some of the mechanical components – just the right amount in our opinion – but certainly nothing to detract from the bike’s overall highly impressive appearance.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This is often considered to be the most desirable Bonneville: a 1960 Pre-Unit Construction model with the engine driving the gearbox via a primary chain. 1960 was the second year of production, by which time Triumph had fully sorted any teething troubles. This particular example was bought by the current meticulous owner in 2018 shortly after its restoration was completed. For the new keeper’s peace of mind it benefits from a recent service including new plugs and a new battery, which is additionally hooked up to a 6v CTEK trickle charger. New AMAL concentric carburettors have also been fitted and tuned; the original monobloc carbs are included but the concentrics are a well-recognized improvement for Pre-Unit machines.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The wheels are in exquisite condition with a mirror shine to the rims. The front tyre is an Avon Speedmaster and the rear a Dunlop K70 Gold Seal, both with plenty of tread remaining. The brakes have also been checked and remain in fine operational condition.

History File
Chassis number D3012 was manufactured in Warwickshire in 1960 before being shipped to the United States where it resided until mid-2009. Following its return to the UK the bike remained unregistered and in dry storage for a number of years. The comprehensive yet sympathetic restoration carried out by Classic Motorcyles Limited (Cheshire) was completed in 2018, and in May that year it was purchased by the current owner who we know very well. Since then, the Bonneville has never seen a wet road and has always been correctly stored alongside a selection of other classic vehicles in the owner’s dehumidified garage. A limited amount of paperwork is present with this one, but the condition really speaks for itself. Recently serviced, this outstanding T120 ready to be ridden and enjoyed.
