Exterior

The Arctic Silver paintwork looks superb paired with the factory two-piece alloy wheels. Having just been treated to a full detail and machine polish the body maintains a deep glossy shine with no swirl marks to report. In line with the mileage there is an honest dusting of small chips but certainly nothing to detract from the car’s overall highly impressive finish. Elsewhere around the car all the black plastics and rubbers remain in fine fettle with no sun damage or marking. On arrival with us the underside of the car was inspected and was found to be in very solid original condition.

Interior

The interior of the 840 is presented with supple grey Nappa leather. The interior appears well with no damage or major wear, even the driver’s bolster is in good order. The leather Sport steering wheel remains in excellent condition, and the console switchgear is also remarkably unworn. The rear seats are in superb condition showing very little use. The boot area is clean and tidy, neatly housing the CD changer, toolkit, and spare wheel beneath the carpet.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The 840Ci is powered by a 4.4-litre naturally aspirated 'M62' V8, producing 282bhp, driven through the rear wheels via a 5-speed automatic transmission. Beneath the bonnet, the engine bay presents very nicely indeed having recently been treated to a full detailing session.

Reading through the accompanying history file it has been serviced 11 times, the most recent being in March 2024 which included all fluids checked, crack and cam sensor replacement and fuel filter. Other recent work includes; new engine mounts, front discs and pads, suspension mounts, ball joints and bushes.

History File

The BMW 840Ci was first registered in April 1996 and sold through the supplying dealer BMW Milcars (Ruslip) Ltd. It has now driven just 76k miles from new. The accompanying history file is complete with the original BMW document pack, owner’s manuals, stamped service booklet, a raft of maintenance invoices, MOT certificates, the V5C and a spare valet key. With the current owner having spent circa £2,500 on maintenance in the past year, this is a well sorted example that is ready to be driven and enjoyed.
